I posted a blog not that long ago about an experience I had with renting on another sim. Well I have another story to tell you, different sim, different situation.
The other night I came into Second Life and there was a message from a land owner where I had 2 stores that said that they had sold the sim and my rent would be dealt with in time (not the exact words). I did not get any notice of my content from the stores being returned and when I checked they had not. I also did not receive outstanding rent (I paid weeks ahead). The message that the outstanding rent would be ‘dealt with in time’ did not comfort me.
I checked again last night and no inventory was returned. I contacted the new owner of the sim that said I had to deal with the previous owner. I left a message (he was off line) and no answer.
Tonight I contacted Second Life support. I was lucky to get Leo
As far as the money owed to me from rent I paid, here is the scoop:

Unfortunately, Linden Lab doesn’t enforce or uphold rental agreements between Residents. Please contact the Resident with whom you have a dispute, and request that they make good on the deal. While you may have a valid agreement with another person, Linden Lab is not a party to and cannot resolve your dispute.

That is directly from the Knowledge base article that Leo directed to me to. I will say I left a comment, but I am sure nothing will happen from it. You can go read it if you wish.
As far as the inventory, Leo transported me to some open land and said it had been returned to my lost and found (can’t remember the term he used) - in a box for each store, basically. They were not there 2 days ago or yesterday.
Anyways, on this piece of land with Leo I could pull out the 2 boxes I had in my inventory that held the items that were in the stores.

Thank the heavens I did get those back!
It absolutely sucks that I may loose the money I paid in rent and SL wipes their hands of any responsibility.
It was absolutely great that Leo helped me at least get my inventory back.
Leo, being Leo, made this experience a little easier to take. Thanks Leo

P.S I have rental space on my land and I am going to ensure that in the notecard I provide it clearly states that inventory and outstanding rent will be returned should I sell the land. I certainly have no plans to sell the land but I don’t want anyone else to go through this and want them to know they are secure.
